Spring is Springing Again
EXPLORING THE DELICIOUS WORLD OF SOUTH AFRICAN CRACKERS, BISCUITS, AND COOKIES
South Africa boasts a rich culinary heritage, and its diverse array of crackers, biscuits, and cookies reflect the nation’s multicultural influences and vibrant flavors. From savory crackers perfect for cheese platters to sweet treats that satisfy any craving, South African snacks offer something for every palate.
One iconic South African cracker that we carry in our store is the Provita, a crispy whole wheat biscuit popular for its versatility. Whether enjoyed plain, topped with cheese or spreads, or dunked into soups and stews, Provitas are a staple in many South African households.
For those with a penchant for something more indulgent, South Africa’s biscuit scene is a delight. The classic Tennis Biscuit, with its distinctive coconut flavor and crunchy texture, is a beloved treat often used in desserts like the iconic South African Milk Tart.
Moving onto cookies, South Africa’s offerings are as diverse as its people. The Romany Cream, a chocolate-coconut biscuit sandwich filled with creamy chocolate, is a perennial favorite, offering a delightful combination of textures and flavors in every bite.
Another popular choice is the Marie Biscuit, a simple yet satisfying treat often enjoyed dipped in tea or used as a base for homemade desserts like the timeless Peppermint Crisp Tart.
But perhaps one of the most cherished South African cookies is the Ouma Rusks. Originating from the Dutch settlers, these double-baked biscuits are beloved for their hearty texture and comforting taste, making them the perfect accompaniment to a cup of Rooibos Tea.
Whether enjoyed as a snack on the go, a complement to a cheese platter, or a sweet indulgence after a meal, South African crackers, biscuits, and cookies continue to hold a special place in the hearts and taste buds of locals and visitors alike, embodying the diverse flavors and cultural tapestry of this beautiful nation.
Kosher food products and snacks are not just dietary choices; they’re deeply rooted in religious and cultural traditions. Whether you adhere to Kosher dietary laws or simply enjoy exploring new flavors, Eat Sum More carries a diverse array of options that appeal to all palates.
The term “Kosher” refers to food that follows Jewish dietary laws outlined in the Torah. These laws dictate which foods are permissible and how they should be prepared. To ensure compliance, many Kosher products undergo certification by a rabbinic authority. This certification, often indicated by a symbol or label, guarantees that the item meets Kosher standards.
Our Kosher groceries & snack foods encompass a wide range of products, including meats, dairy, grains, chocolates, candies, crackers, drinks, breakfast items, soups, and all sorts of packaged goods. From traditional Jewish foods to delicious sweets to everyday staple items, our Kosher groceries & snacks cater to a diverse array of culinary needs.
Beyond religious observance, many people choose Kosher products for their quality, cleanliness, and attention to detail in production. The rigorous standards of Kosher certification ensure that food is prepared with strict adherence to hygiene and safety regulations.
Eat Sum More’s Kosher groceries and snacks offer a rich tapestry of flavors and traditions. Whether you’re exploring Jewish cuisine or simply seeking high-quality food options, our store has something to offer for everyone’s taste buds.

APRIL 22 IS EARTH DAY
Earth Day will be celebrated by millions of Canadians across our country, as well as everyone around the world on Monday, April 22nd – marking this holiday as the 54th anniversary of the very first Earth Day that was created way back in 1970.
The day is rejoiced around the world, by people from all walks of life who are concerned about making a sustainable future for their children. Events, parades, festivals and overall awareness campaigns mark the day, with the hope of preserving the environment for many generations to come.
The theme for Earth Day 2024 is “PLANET VS. PLASTICS”, which unites students, parents, businesses, governments, and individuals in an unwavering commitment to call for the end of plastics for the sake of human and planetary health – and demanding a 60% reduction in the production of plastics by 2040, with the ultimate goal of building a plastic-free future for generations to come.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtfully committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
— Margaret Mead
From all of us here at Eat Sum More, we hope you have a very Happy Earth Day!
